What Honors Will My Loved One Receive?

In accordance with ARNG Honor Guard SOP, and DoD Directive 1300.15, the Honor Guard details will be standardized.  Deviations from these standards are not allowed.  Three variations of details are authorized for use.  These same standards will be used for an urn except the Pallbearers will consist of two Soldiers to carry the flag and urn.

 a. Three Man Detail.  The three man detail will consist of 1 NCOIC/OIC, 1 Soldier, and a Bugler.  A three man detail will be authorized to provide Funeral Honors for eligible veterans.  Veterans are defined as individuals who have received an Honorable Discharge on their DD214.  The three Soldier fold over the casket or urn will be conducted on this detail.

    b. Nine Man Detail.  The nine man detail consists of 1 NCOIC/OIC, 6 Soldiers, and a Bugler and a Chaplain.  A Nine man detail will be authorized to provide Funeral Honors for the following:

         1.  Retired Service Members.

         2.  MDAY / Active Duty Soldier not killed in action.

     c. Full Honors Detail.  The Full Honors detail consists of twenty one service members.  This detail will consist of 1 NCOIC/OIC, 6 Pallbearers, 7 man Firing Party, 1 Firing Party NCOIC, 4 man Color Guard,1 Bugler, and a Chaplain. A full honors detail will be authorized to provide Funeral Honors for the following:

   1.  A service member killed in action.

   2.  A Medal of Honor recipient.

   3.  A General Officer.

   4.  An E-9.
